Care for the sarees you love
Tips for storage, cleaning and handling different saree fabrics.
Every saree deserves the right care
Always follow the product care label first. Fabric composition, dye, zari, sequins and surface embellishment determine appropriate cleaning.
Silk, Banarasi and embroidered pieces
Consider professional dry cleaning when recommended by the garment label. Avoid spraying perfume directly onto zari, delicate threads or embroidery. Air garments after use before storing.
Cotton and everyday drapes
Check the label for permitted hand or machine washing. Test colour fastness if advised, use suitable gentle care and avoid leaving damp sarees folded.
Organza, chiffon and georgette
Handle sheer and delicate fabrics gently. Avoid snagging them on jewellery, rough surfaces and sharp edges. Use a protective storage cover.
Storage and folding
Store clean and completely dry, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Use breathable fabric bags where appropriate. Refold stored silk and heavy zari pieces periodically to avoid permanent fold marks.
